For June 2014, a USA-based company which organises geological tours to various parts of the world, Williams GeoAdventures, is arranging a tour to Italy. The tour comprises two separate legs covering the south and north of the country. Volcanic Experiences is organising the Southern leg. This starts in Catania, Sicily, on Sunday June 8th and ends in Naples on Sunday 15th. At that stage, those taking part could leave the tour or take the train north for the second leg, which focusses on the Cinque Terre and the Italian Dolomites.

The southern leg spends time in Sicily & the Aeolian Islands, as well as the Bay of Naples area, taking in highlights from our usual “Bay of Naples” and “Sicily & Aeolians” tours. It covers five active Italian volcanoes (Etna, Vulcano, Stromboli, Vesuvius and Solfatara) and includes visits to Pompeii and Herculaneum. Alan Clewlow will escort the group for this leg.
